Appaloosa is an American Western film based on the 2005 novel of the same name by crime writer Robert B. Parker. In Appaloosa two friends, the lawman Virgil Cole (Ed Harris) and his deputy Everett Hitch (Viggo Mortensen) are hired to a lawless 1880s town to arrest the murderous rancher, Randall Bragg (Jeremy Irons) and bring him to trial.
Renée Zellweger plays the character of Allison French, a pretty, refined, and good-natured widow who arrives in town and causes jealousy between the two friends.
Bragg himselves believes he is above the law and when the two friends arrive to town, braggs has just killed the town marshal and two deputies in cold blood. Virgil and Everett declare that they will resolve the issues with Bragg if the locals will only grant Virgil the marshal authority.
After becoming marshal, Virgil appoints Everett his deputy and together they start to arrest and kill Braggs thugs. Bragg gets temporary subdued but as soon as Alison gets Virgils attention, Bragg shows signs that he isn’t finish with the town …
