down-with-love-posterThe movie Down With Love tells the story of Barbara Novak, a woman who advocates female independence in the 1960s.

 

Barbara is new in New York City and has written a new book named “Down with Love”.   The book is written to free women from love, teach them to use sex without love, and to replace the need for a man with things such as chocolate.   Barbara believes that love is a disstraction and by following her advices, women will get a boost in the workplace.  

 

The book sells well and and housewives and women around the world start rebelling against their men.   Among the men that are frustrated over Barbara’s book is Catcher Block a successful journalist, who previously has had success with women, but  is suddenly unable to pursue his many love affairs.  Catcher becomes determinent in crushing Barbara’s policy and make her fall in love, proving she is the same as every other woman.  

 

down-with-loveIn order to expose Barbara, Catcher decides to take advantage of the fact that Barbara has never met or seen him and disguises himself as a naive astronaut named Zip Martin who has no idea of who Barbara is and never heard of her book.

 

At first Catcher’s plan seems to go as planned and Barbara is infatuated with this man who appears to have no idea who she is.  But as Catcher starts falling for Barbara, it gets harder for him to implement the original plan  …
