The story of Miss Potter is based on the biography of the famous children’s author and illustrator Beatrix Potter and earned Zellweger her sixth Golden Globe nomination. Renée Zellweger plays Miss Potter and Ewan McGregor plays her publisher and fiancé, Norman Warne.
When the story begins, miss Beatrix Potter is packing her portfolio for a visit to the publishing house of Warne brothers. The Warne brothers do not believe that Potter´s book will be a success, in fact they think it is ridiculous. Nevertheless, they aggree to publish her book because they promised their youngest brother, Norman, a project.
Beatrix is overjoyed at first and starts making decisions regarding the size, colour and price of her book. But when Norman admits that he has never published a books before, Beatrix realises what the Warne brothers have done. However, Beatrix and Norman become determined to prove that Norman’s older brothers are wrong and together they manage to publish the book.
Before meeting Norman, Beatrix has had few real friends and turned down number of good men, to her mother’s frustration. But when Beatrix becomes friend with the Warne family, her mother is very unhappy about Beatrix spending time in the company of tradesmen.
Beatrix’s book turnes out to be the first of her many successes and encouraged by the success and her father’s support, Beatrix invites Norman and his sister Millie to her family’s Christmas party. The Christmas party is successful and Beatrix tells the guests about her stories. At the Christmas party, Norman finds the courage to propose to Beatrix and after consulting with Millie, she agrees to marry him …
