New in Town is an American romantic comedy film about a high-powered consultant, Lucy Hill (Renée Zellweger) who lives a Miami lifestyle but is sent to New Ulm, Minnesota for overseeing the restructuring of a blue collar manufacturing plant.
At first Lucy meets a frosty reception from the locals, together with icy roads and freezing weather, but when she gets to value the small town’s charm, she is accepted by the community. Later when she is ordered to close down the plant and put the entire community out of work, she has to reconsider her goals and priorities and to find a way to save the town.
